Our Trustees

Polly Colthorpe – Chair

Polly has lived in Poughill near Crediton for 45 years and has represented Way Ward as a councillor since 2015. She is retired after running a small rural business. A former Devon County Councillor for 12 years, serving on the Devon and Somerset Fire Rescue Authority, Polly has a wide range of experience to put at the service of residents in Mid Devon through her involvement as chair of trustees for Involve. Polly was made an honorary alderman on standing down from D.C.C.

Polly first became aware of Involve when, in the aftermath of the Foot and Mouth crisis (her own sheep were condemned under a ‘D’ notice but reprieved at the last minute), money was made available through the Market and Coastal Towns Initiative for interested groups to put together plans to improve the amenities in those areas which had been most affected by the disease. Each interest group had to be legally constituted and it was then that she saw how invaluable was the expertise which Involve had to offer.

As a representative, first for Mid Devon and then for D.C.C., she sat on Involve’s board for some 12 years and when she stood down from the county in 2021, she was asked to become a trustee in her own right, a position she was honoured to accept. She was elected as chair earlier this year.

Dennis Knowles – Trustee

Dennis has been a highly respected and dedicated member of the Tiverton community for a considerable amount of time. His extensive and impressive tenure of 40 years on the Town Council is a testament to his unwavering commitment and passion for public service. In addition, he has actively participated in various community initiatives for many more years.

Dennis has also made valuable contributions to Involve, serving as a trustee and treasurer for several years. His efforts and contributions are truly appreciated and have positively impacted the community, serving as treasurer and chair for some of that time.

Amelia Davies – Trustee

As someone who calls Devon home, Amelia is truly passionate about building stronger, more connected communities. Involve’s dedication to supporting voluntary and community action resonates deeply with her so as our newest trustee she is excited to roll up her sleeves and work alongside others to make a real difference in the lives of our communities.

Amelia is an enthusiastic and skilled fundraiser with a passion for improving the lives of young people, and their communities, and ensuring they have the opportunities to succeed. She is presently the Fundraising and Events Coordinator for DYS Space Limited (Space Youth Services) and keen to support the work of Involve’s youth club in Cullompton.
